When the kitchen screen opens in a browser, a blue bar asks for a tap.
Browsers keep sounds off until someone touches the page.
Tap anywhere on the board. The blue bar goes away.
Now every new order plays a chime as its ticket appears.
Keep the tablet's volume up, so the cooks hear it across the kitchen.
