Paymob is a payment gateway that runs in several markets, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Egypt. Its dashboard gives you more settings than most gateways: separate keys, an HMAC secret, and one integration ID for each way of paying, such as cards or Apple Pay. That flexibility is useful, but it is also where setups go wrong, usually because one value is missing or a test key is mixed with a live integration.
Wink You connects to Paymob directly. This guide lists exactly which values to copy, where the callback goes, and how refunds work.
What the Paymob connection does
- Online payments at your online store checkout, on Paymob's unified checkout page.
- Online payments on the QR Digital Menu for restaurants with QR self ordering on.
- Whichever payment ways you add as integration IDs, for example card and Apple Pay, if your Paymob account has them.
- Full and partial refunds from Payments, sent back through Paymob.
Paymob runs a separate platform per country, each with its own currency: AED in the UAE, SAR in Saudi Arabia, OMR in Oman, EGP in Egypt and PKR in Pakistan. Wink You picks the right platform from your branches' country, or from the currency you chose when your branches are in more than one country. The money goes into your own Paymob account; Wink You does not hold it.
How to connect Paymob
- In Business Admin, open Payment Methods and click Connect on Paymob.
- Pick the Currency and the Mode.
- From Paymob, Settings, Developers, API Keys, paste the Secret Key, Public Key, API Key and HMAC Secret.
- From Paymob, Settings, Payment Integrations, paste your Integration IDs, separated by commas.
- In Paymob, set the webhook address shown in the panel as the Transaction processed callback on every integration ID you entered.
- Switch it On and click Save.
Integration IDs must be numbers only, separated by commas. Anything else is refused with a clear message. Use test keys with test integration IDs and live keys with live ones; a test key always runs in test mode, whatever the Mode box says. Paymob checks the callback with your HMAC secret, and Wink You still asks Paymob for the real transaction status before an order counts as paid.
Refunds through Paymob
Open Payments, find the payment, choose Refund and keep Original Method. Lower the Refund Amount for a partial refund and click Confirm Refund. You can refund in parts until the full amount is refunded, and a partial refund leaves the payment counted as paid for the rest. A card refund can take a few days to reach the customer.
What is not included
- Paymob platforms outside the five countries listed above.
- A separate Paymob account per branch from the app. One account per provider serves every branch.
Test before you go live
Paymob uses the same address for test and live, and the keys decide which one you are in. Paste the test keys with your test integration IDs first, place a test order on your own store or QR menu, and check it shows as paid in Orders. Then replace them with the live keys and live integration IDs and save. Saved keys stay until you replace them.
When Paymob shows to customers
Paymob is offered at checkout only when it shows Active and its currency matches the branch currency. On the QR Digital Menu, guests can pay only when QR self ordering is on, and delivery appears only when an online payment is available for that currency. By default only the business owner can open Payment Methods, and you may be asked to confirm it is you before keys are saved.
One Paymob account for the whole business
Payment Methods holds one account per provider for the whole business, and every branch uses it. With Paymob that also means one Paymob country platform, picked from your branches’ country or from the currency you chose. If your branches sell in different currencies, Paymob is offered only where the branch currency matches it, and you can connect another gateway for the other branches. If you need separate merchant accounts per branch, contact Wink You support. The money from Paymob payments goes straight into your own Paymob account and is paid out on Paymob’s schedule.
Frequently asked questions
Which Paymob values do I need?
Five: Secret Key, Public Key, API Key and HMAC Secret from API Keys, plus your Integration IDs from Payment Integrations.
Why is my Paymob test payment failing?
The most common cause is mixing modes: test keys with live integration IDs, or the reverse. Paste a matching set and save again.
How do I add Apple Pay through Paymob?
If Paymob has enabled Apple Pay on your account, add its integration ID next to your card integration ID, separated by a comma, and set the callback on it too.
