For many online stores in the UAE and the wider Gulf, Aramex is the courier that collects the parcels. The problem is the work in between. Someone copies the customer name, phone and address from the order into the Aramex portal, books the shipment, downloads the label, then pastes the tracking number back into the store so the customer can follow it. On a busy day that copying is where mistakes happen: a wrong phone number, a missed order, a cash on delivery amount typed wrong.
Wink You connects your own Aramex business account to your online store, so the waybill, the label and the tracking come from the order itself. This guide explains what the connection really does, how to set it up, and what it does not do yet.
What the Aramex connection does
- Creates the Aramex waybill from the order screen, with the customer address, weight, number of parcels and the cash to collect filled in for you.
- Stores the shipping label so you can print it from the same order with Print label.
- Charges the live Aramex price at checkout when you link a shipping method to Aramex, with your flat fee as a fallback.
- Tracks the parcel by itself about every 30 minutes, moves the order to Shipped and then Delivered, and tells the customer.
- Can book the waybill automatically for every order that is ready to ship.
How to connect your Aramex account
You need an Aramex business account with API access. Aramex gives the six values Wink You asks for when your account manager enables the Shipping Services API and the Rate Calculator API. Then, in Business Admin:
- Open Shipping carriers from the menu on the left, and press Connect on the Aramex card.
- Under Account details, type your username (email), password, account number, account PIN, account entity (for example DXB) and account country code.
- Under Pickup address, add where the courier collects parcels: at least the phone, street, city and country.
- Under Options, choose the services and the Default product weight (grams). Turn on Test mode (no real parcels are booked) while you try it, and turn on Default carrier for new waybills.
- Press Save, then Test connection to check your details with Aramex. When you are ready to ship for real, switch test mode off and save again.
You may be asked to confirm your password before saving, because the courier login is a secret. Only the business owner and managers who are not tied to one branch can manage carriers.
Live Aramex shipping rates at checkout
A flat delivery fee is simple, but it can lose money on heavy parcels and overcharge on light ones. With Aramex connected, open Shipping, edit a delivery method, pick Aramex as the Carrier and tick the option to use the Aramex live price at checkout. Checkout then asks Aramex for the price of each cart based on the customer city and the cart weight, and the method shows an Aramex live price chip. The price the customer sees is the price charged. Keep a sensible Fee on the method: it is charged whenever Aramex does not answer, so checkout never gets stuck. For the price to be right, set the Weight (grams) on your products.
Creating a waybill and printing the label
Open the online order in Orders, scroll to Courier shipment and press Create shipment. Check the Carrier, Service, Weight, Parcels, Cash to collect and Contents, then press Create waybill. The tracking number appears, the order moves to Packed, and Print label opens the label to stick on the box. Cash to collect is the amount still owed, so it is zero for a paid order and the full balance for cash on delivery. Each order has one live waybill at a time.
What is not included
- Cancelling with Aramex. Aramex offers no API to cancel a waybill, so Cancel waybill removes it from the order in Wink You only. You also void it in your Aramex portal.
- Deliveries to another country. Storefront checkout saves addresses in your store's own country, even though Aramex lists international services.
- Other couriers. Aramex and SMSA Express are the two couriers that connect directly today.
What your customer sees
Once the waybill exists, the customer does not need to message you for a tracking number. Their order page shows the live tracking details from Aramex, and guests without an account can follow it from the link on their confirmation. They get an email, and a push notification if they allowed them, when the order is shipped and again when it is delivered, and at delivery they are also asked for a review.
Frequently asked questions
How do I connect Aramex to my online store?
Open Shipping carriers in Business Admin, press Connect on Aramex, enter the six account details and your pickup address, save, then press Test connection.
Can I test Aramex without booking real parcels?
Yes. Turn on Test mode in Options. Wink You then talks to the Aramex test system and no real parcel is booked. Switch it off before your first real shipment.
Does the customer get the Aramex tracking?
Yes. The tracking number fills itself on the order, the customer follows it from their order page, and they get a message when the parcel ships and when it is delivered.
Why is the Aramex price different from my flat fee?
A method set to the live price charges what Aramex quotes for that city and weight. Your flat Fee is used only when Aramex does not answer.
